Getting Started With Alpacas
If you are learning about the alpaca industry and considering
raising alpacas for the first time, here are some suggestions
about getting started with alpacas.
- Visit our established and successful alpaca farm
for a tour of our operations. There's nothing like seeing
it for yourself. Note the fencing, shelter, and feed setup.
Ask to see fleeces and get your hands on the alpacas.
- If you have never lived on a farm or raised livestock,
you might want to get into the business slowly by purchasing
a couple of "pet" or "fiber quality"
males. Once you've experienced caring for them and if you
are still interested, then begin purchasing breeding quality
females.
- When you're ready to invest in your foundation herd of
breeding quality alpacas, consider making the extra investment
to buy females who are proven and bred. They are more expensive,
but it will pay off sooner with crias.
If you have questions or would like more information about
investing in alpacas and the possibility for profits, please
